Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"I wish I'd tried this spot sooner! It's a little hard to notice from the street but inside it is super cute with paintings, lights and decorations everywhere. The service is friendly and it feels like you're at home. Very comfortable and low key. The food is well priced and delicious. We were greeted with chips and shared the azteca molcajete for two which came with soups and individual plates of rice and beans along with the molcajete of meats, panela, and nopales with a delicious sauce. The tortillas were delicious, we had corn, but there is a choice of flour as well. It was a really good value for $41.95 considering we both left full and with left overs. We had beer and it seems like it's very/wine, no spirits. The only thing that would make it better is some music, but there are musicians that come through and ask if you'd like something to be played. We were happy to check it out and support a local business with almost 50 years! I will be back."
"This place it pretty good. Not too much selection on the menu as far as burritos and enchiladas go. But they definitely specialize in authentic mexican food. There is a 1 dollar charge if you ask for their breakfast menu(which is pretty crazy). Also it's pretty pricey. Fyi they have parking in the back of the resturant."
"Great ambiance and very colorful. The food and service are respectable. I appreciate having the opportunity to eat and enjoy lunch here. I'm sure it's more busy during the weekends but I went on a calm friday afternoon."
"The pastor taco was hands down the BEST taco I’ve ever had. Put the shredded lettuce, guacamole and a bit of hot sauce with some lime. Ask for cilantro and onions on it - would say do the corn tortilla. Thank me later."
"Such a great restaurant to come and eat that make hand made tortillas, the food is super delicious and always have enough to share with another person. Always hot. Gives you a side soup to eat as you wait, they also give you some good chips and salsa to eat as well. The salsa is kind of spicy though. There is no refills on drinks but all the drinks are great. Staff are nice and kind and always check up on you a lot if you need anything. The place is beautiful and welcoming with so much decoration. I love comingbhere at night for dim it looks and so romantic with hardly any lights. Definitely come here."
"Love visiting this place for breakfast and enjoying a nice hot cup of Cafe de Olla. The food is good and the employees are very friendly."
"I rate this a plus...this is a.must. visit LA place to come. Friendly, muaic to serenate you, hand made corn tortilla, cafesito de hoya.. alot of hispanic famous Icon peeps visit this place..like Oscar DE LA Hoya."
"I was in the area shopping in DTLA in the Lax-C warehouse just up the street. My wife once again knew about this Mexican cuisine style restaurant. She said her and her mom would come here when she was younger to have their breakfast all the time. Hungry from shopping we ordered their #1 Parrilladas Al Brasero Tripas (tripe) Carné Asada, Chicken, homemade corn tortillas, homemade chips and salsa (2 kinds, red & pico dé gallo) to share and Chicken Quesadillas for our daughter which they cook with Oaxacan cheese! You may find paid parking in the back, (that's where most people enter from) clean, organized, friendly service all the way through the restaurant. The staff are really welcoming here and accommodating. The atmosphere is really festive and colorful. We enjoyed our visit and would gladly come back for more."
